This dark comedy is based on a true story of flamboyant Texas mortician named Bernie Tied who befriends aging widower Marjorie Nugent (Shirley McClaine). As their relationship progresses, Nugent becomes more and more possessive, and this causes Tiede to eventually murder her and keep her in a freezer for month's on end.
