Thanksgiving Live: Great Thanksgiving Starter and Easy Breezy Cheeseball Recipe

So, it's Thanksgiving Day! Happy Thanksgiving everyone. To start my day, I made a quick appetizer so I could give my guests something to eat while they waited for me to do the final touches. I cut up some pineapple and made a chesseball. Then, I put them in these cool dishes I got, and my Thanksgiving starter was done.
Here's the recipe for my cheeseball.
To make the cheeseball, I just took an 8 oz. pack of cream cheese and mixed in 2 cups of shredded cheese. You can use 1 1/2 to 2 cups. I formed it into a ball and coated the ball thoroughly with chili powder. What I got was a smoky cheesy ball of deliciousness.
                                                           Here's the final product.

Great Dish.
I missed a spot when I did the cheeseball. Sorry, but it still tasted good.

Thanksgiving Countdown Day Five: Five Thanksgiving Host and Hostess Gift Ideas

Thanksgiving is three days away, and I thought that I would share some great host/hostess gifts for those of you out there who are lucky enough to not worry about Thanksgiving because someone else in your life decided to take on the challenge of making Thanksgiving dinner so you don't have to.

Image Via www.sheknows.com
1.) Bring a bottle or two of wine. This tried and true go to will have the host or hostess feel like they matter, and it won't break the bank for those of you on a budget.
2.) Bring a candle. With Christmas on its way, a holiday scented candle will help your host or hostess get ready for the holidays, and it's one of those gifts, like wine, that are budget friendly.
3.) Bring a serving kit or tray. More than likely, the host or hostess of your Thanksgiving loves to entertain, and a serving kit or tray will help them do more entertaining in the future.
4.) Take fresh flowers or a plant along with you. If your host or hostess has a green thumb, a houseplant will be up there alley. If not, just bring fresh flowers that they can put in their home for a few days to add some color and fragrance. This gift is another one that doesn't break the bank.
5.)  Last but not least, make a gift basket. What are your favorite things? Whatever they are, put them in a basket, and tie a ribbon on it to make your host or hostess feel like you appreciate the hard work that they did. Don't know what to put in the basket? Try a movie, a nice towel set, or some freshly baked goods.

Thanksgiving Countdown Day 3: How To Get Your Thanksgiving Shopping Done Stress Free

It's the Saturday before Thanksgiving, and that means ya'll are probably out at your local grocery store picking up your turkey, baking items, and all the other stuff you'll need for a perfect Thanksgiving dinner. I have compiled a list of five things that you can do to make sure that your Thanksgiving shopping trip is a stress free success.

(Image Via www.thecovecommunity.blogspot.com)
1.) Park as far back in the parking lot away from all the other cars if possible. It may be farther to walk, but you'll be less likely to have a giant cart dent in the side of your car when your shopping is done. (And who wants that?)
2.) Bring a stress ball. Instead of telling that slow customer in front of you where you think she should shove her turkey, just bring a stress ball along to get out the frustrations you are feeling while putting up with the Thanksgiving crowds. You may look a little crazy, but that's better than facing assault charges, right?
3.) Get a turkey with a timer in it. A caterer friend of mine was giving me tips on how to make the perfect turkey, and she was saying a lot of people feel like they are not cooking if they buy a turkey with a timer in it so you know when it's done. I say, I'd rather cheat a little and serve a good turkey than not cheat and and serve burnt or uncooked turkey to my guests.
4.) Make a list. There's nothing worse than getting home and realizing you have to go back again because you forgot something. Making a list is a surefire way to avoid this issue.
5.) Last but not least, treat the cashiers and other grocery store workers with respect. If you think you are having a stressful day, I guarantee you that they are having a heck of a lot more stressful day than you.  Taking care of that many stressed out people is not easy, and they are probably getting paid little to do it.

By following these simple rules, I guarantee you that you're Thanksgiving shopping trip will be stress free.

Thanksgiving Countdown:Easy Thanksgiving Dessert From "Boston Cooking School Cookbook" by Fannie Merritt Farmer

There's only six days until Thanksgiving, and that means the stress may have just built a little bit more. Yesterday, I showed you a harvest wreath I made to ease you into things, but today I thought I would share an easy recipe for peanut butter cupcakes that I got from "The Boston Cooking School Cookbook" by Fannie Merritt Farmer. I'm not the most experiences baker, but I found them to be simple to make and they turned out delicious.

As I said, this is the recipe from the Boston Cooking School Cookbook by Fannie Merritt Farmer. FYI, I don't own any of the rights to it, just thought I would like to share it with ya'll, and, to be safe, I'm not getting any monetary gain from posting this. "Basically, you cream together a quarter cup of peanut butter and a quarter of a cup of butter. Easy enough. Then you are going to beat 3/4 of a cup of brown sugar, an egg, a quarter of a teaspoon of salt, and a half teaspoon of vanilla together . Finally, you want to sift a cup of pastry flour and 1.25 teaspoons of baking powder. You add the flour and baking powder to the other ingredients as you slowly put in 3/8 cup of milk, set your oven to 375, fill the cupcakes tin halfway, and pop them babies in." (Recipe via Fanny Merritt Farmer in Boston Cooking School Cookbook) Twenty minutes later, you can take them out and ice them with the icing of your choosing, and you have a perfect dessert to serve your guests this Thanksgiving.

I found this recipe to be simple and fun, but to be honest, I sort of just mixed the ingredients together without following the instructions (I'm  a rebel I tell you), and they turned out okay. I would suggest following the recipe to ensure your guests don't leave having something to talk bad about you about until Christmas, but you do what you want. Enjoy, and have a happy Thanksgiving.

Here's the batter. I made a cake too.

This what the batter will look like when you get it done.
Make sure you preheat oven to 375 degrees.
The finished cake.
And the finished cupcake.

Thanksgiving Countdown: Budget Harvest Flower Arrangement

A View Of My Arrangement
You may have just eaten the last of your Halloween candy, but Thanksgiving is already upon us. I know. It's scary. It may even be scarier than Halloween, but over the next few days, I will be trying to give you tips and ideas to make your Thanksgiving go off without a hitch.
Arrangement At Another Angle
I didn't really want to talk about food because that's just too much flipping stress so I decided that a nice flower arrangement idea would be the perfect way to ease into Thanksgiving week. I do not have tons of money to go out and buy an expensive and boogie flower arrangement, but I wanted an autumnal flower arrangement for Thanksgiving so I made one myself using artificial flowers from the Dollar Tree (probably spent 8 bucks total there). I chose orange and red colors, came home, and got to work. I used a wooden pot thingy (can't think of  a better word, sorry) that I had gotten as a gift, put a styrofoam square in it, and  put the artificial flowers in it. After I finished, I put some fake peat moss around it, and snap, crackle, pop, I had my arrangement.
You can use different flowers and colors than I did, and I found that the Dollar Tree often has a large variety to choose from. All together it took me about 15 minutes to put it together so it's fast and simple too. The result is what I think is a pretty gnarly arrangement. Hope you like it and get some inspiration to go out and make your own flower arrangement this Thanksgiving .
